Production Manager


Inspire Resourcing are currently recruiting for a Production Manager on behalf of our client based in Chesterfield.


This is a fantastic opportunity for a Production Manager with proven experience who is also familiar with Continuous Improvement & H&S Standards.


Responsible for: -

  • Ensure that assigned production department operates to the highest Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) standards, meeting the requirements of all applicable laws, policies and procedures.

  • Ensure that assigned production department operates to the highest Quality standards, meeting the requirements of the site Quality Management System (QMS).

  • Monitor and continually improve departmental efficiency and effectiveness, using appropriate performance indicators.

  • Ensure that product is manufactured at the ‘best cost’ by continually seeking opportunities to reduce manufacturing costs, without compromising EHS & Quality. As a minimum meet budget levels of unit cost.

  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement within the department and the wider site operations, actively seeking and seizing opportunities, where appropriate utilising Six Sigma tools and techniques.

  • Provide leadership and manage assigned supervisors ensuring that their shifts teams are appropriately managed, developed, motivated and committed.

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the strategic plan for both production locations.

  • Ensure assigned production department has the production capabilities, people and equipment to meet predicted future production requirements.

  • Ensure company set KPI’s are met by the Quality Department, working to the overall plan and maintaining company set targets and objectives.

  • Responsible for the creation and implementation of best practice quality vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance.

  • Contribute to new business initiatives and projects and review and communicate the impact on Quality activities.

  • Contribute to and record Research and Development activities.

  • Lead and maintain the quality business strategy in all capacities of Internal, external, supplier & compliance frameworks toward set objectives and targets.

  • Chair weekly, & monthly quality meetings to report business quality performance and trends along with relevant action plans.

  • Prepare necessary reports for review by customers, internal departments, senioR management and relevant shareholders.

  • Maintain and communicate Quality Assurance processes and procedures to ensure compliance with ISO 9001 Quality, ISO 14001 Environmental and relevant standards to safeguard product safety.

  • Maintain and communicate company compliance with UL quality set standards internally, externally and external accreditation.

  • Maintain and communicate company compliance to BSI, RoHS, REACH, WEEE and other industry set directives, internally and externally.

  • Contribute to the reduction of the companies Carbon Footprint in your department.

  • Ensure the department operates in accordance with health, safety and environmental policies and procedures, to ensure the well being of staff and visitors.

  • Respond to customer complaints putting in containment actions, root cause analysis, 8D reporting and implement short-term and long-term countermeasure.

  • Work with functional departments / personnel to maintain and improve quality  processes, procedures, and work instructions.

  • Advise the D&E team on technical advice, material selection, route advice,machine capabilities, and keep the company Capability Manual up to date.

  • Ensure the customer receives a product in line with their requirements and drawing, proof check all production specifications.

  • Manage the Quality department team directly with training, development and organisation.

  • Champion a program for the implementation and sustainment of a continuous improvement culture.

  • Identify and deploy the technical skill sets, resource levels and systems to deliver projects, research and development, and engage with external resources as required.

  • Undertake continuous personal training and development.


Requirements

Requirements for the role:


  • Experience with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects.

  • Proven hands-on leader, who can inspire commitment and improvement.

  • Effective communicator at all levels of the business.

  • Self starter, capable of making effective decisions

  • Proven experience as a Production Manager or in a similar role.

  • Strong knowledge of production management, manufacturing processes, and quality control.

  • Excellent organisational and leadership skills.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.

  • Proficient in MS Office and production management software.

  • Strong health, safety and environmental orientation (ISO14001)

  • IOSH or other H&S qualification

  • Strong knowledge of quality systems requirements. (ISO 9001)
