About the Role
We are seeking a proactive and skilled Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join our clients small team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems and equipment across the site. This is a hands on role requiring strong problem skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on mechanical equipment.
Diagnose faults and perform repairs to minimise downtime.
Maintain and service conveyors, pumps, motors, and other mechanical systems.
Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical manuals.
Ensure compliance with health and safety standards at all times.
Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and efficiency.
Record maintenance activities and update documentation accurately.
Liaise with other departments to coordinate maintenance schedules and minimise disruption.
Requirements
Proven experience in Mechanical Engineering (manufacturing/industrial environment preferred but not essential).
Knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
Relevant engineering qualification (NVQ, City & Guilds, apprentice trained or equivalent).
Good communication skills and a proactive approach to problems
Health & safety training is desirable but not essential.
