About the Role
Electrician
Key Accountabilities
To undertake practical electrical work, either alone or as part of a team, appropriate to the post holder’s skills and experience within a department providing a customer-focused building maintenance and repair service. To carry out duties relating to electrical maintenance, improvement works, and new installations.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Carry out electrical repairs, new installations, and safety checks within domestic properties, ensuring work is of high quality, efficient, and provides value for money.
Work efficiently, minimising non-productive time, and report any issues affecting productivity to the Supervisor.
Carry out electrical condition reports and testing of domestic installations.
Inspect and test all electrical work for compliance with current wiring regulations.
Undertake repairs, servicing, testing, inspection, installation, and replacement of systems, accessories, and equipment.
Carry out fault finding and diagnostics across a range of electrical systems.
Ensure all work complies with specifications, legislation, and industry best practice.
Complete associated “make good” work where possible.
Maintain positive relationships with customers and service users, respecting their needs.
Maintain responsibility for company vehicle (if allocated), ensuring checks, cleanliness, and defect reporting.
Maintain tools and equipment in good working order, reporting faults as necessary.
Use handheld/mobile technology to manage workload.
Complete all paperwork and certification accurately and promptly.
Follow all health & safety procedures, including Electricity at Work Regulations.
Attend training to maintain skills, registrations, and accreditations.
Maintain excellent customer relations, particularly with tenants and the general public.
Support and mentor apprentices where required.
Report any safeguarding concerns appropriately.
Service & Organisational Responsibilities
Attend relevant internal and external training courses.
Support colleagues and assist with service delivery as needed.
Help train new employees in operational procedures.
Promote equality and diversity in all aspects of work.
Provide flexible support across the service, including during busy periods.
General Duties
Deliver high-quality workmanship with a strong focus on safety.

Diagnose faults and carry out or recommend appropriate repairs.
Order and manage materials required for work completion.
Protect customer property and clean up upon completion of work.

Requirements
Apprenticeship with City & Guilds 2360 (or equivalent)
AM1 & AM2
NVQ Level 3
18th Edition Wiring Regulations
Full UK driving licence
